Oppn targets Rekha Gupta govt over one year in office

New Delhi, Feb 21: Opposition parties on Friday criticised the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as it completed one year in office, alleging failure to deliver on key promises and address civic concerns.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Devender Yadav termed the BJP dispensation a “triple engine government” and claimed it had committed “12 misdeeds in 12 months”. He alleged that the administration had failed to provide concrete solutions to pressing civic issues in the national capital.

The Congress further alleged that major electoral promises remained unfulfilled, including monthly financial assistance to women and subsidised LPG cylinders at Rs 500. Party leaders claimed that “not a single rupee” had reached the intended beneficiaries.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also launched a sharp attack on the government. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia presented what he described as a “report card” of the BJP government, accusing it of failing to honour its promise of Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to women despite what he called “Modi’s guarantee”.

Sisodia further alleged that the government had manipulated Air Quality Index (AQI) data by shutting or relocating monitoring stations to reflect lower pollution levels.

He also claimed that free medicines and diagnostic tests in government hospitals had been discontinued. Additionally, he alleged that the construction of 24 hospitals initiated under former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had been halted.
The BJP government has yet to issue a detailed response to the allegations.
