Bantwal: MLA Rajesh Naik unveils crematorium statues, inaugurates new fish market at Siddakatte

Bantwal, Feb 11: Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik on Wednesday inaugurated a series of civic infrastructure projects, including newly developed facilities at the Hindu cremation ground in the Sangabettu Grama Panchayat limits and a modern fish market at Siddakatte.

At the cremation ground, the MLA unveiled statues of Layakarta, Smashana Vaasi Rudra Shiva and Satya Harishchandra, installed under the Grama Panchayat’s 15th Finance Commission grant. A newly constructed room built with the same funds was also formally opened, enhancing basic amenities at the site.

Later, Naik inaugurated the newly established fish market at Siddakatte, developed jointly with funds from the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) and the Grama Panchayat. The facility is expected to improve trading conditions for local vendors and provide better infrastructure for customers.

Grama Panchayat president Rajeevi, vice-president Suresh Kulal, and members Satish Poojary, Sandesh Shetty, Udaya Poojary, Sunil Shettigar, Devappa Karkera, Damodara Poojary, Benedict D’Costa, Shakuntala, Shantha, Vimala Mohan, Prema, Vidya and Hemalatha were present on the occasion.

Former taluk member Ratna Kumar Chauta, Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society president Prabhakara Prabhu, CA Bank directors Vishwanath Shettigar and Shiva Gowda, professional director Naveen Hegde, local residents Deepak Shettigar, Uday Shettigar and Praveen Hegde, Panchayat Development Officer Padma, secretary Rohini, panchayat staff and members of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) also attended the programme.
