The incident occurred in Erafatpur village, where the girl reportedly consumed pesticide following family disputes over her studies. She was first taken to a private nursing home in Tamluk, where doctors pronounced her dead. Her family confirmed the death at another medical facility and began traditional death rituals, including announcing her passing over the microphone and preparing her grave.

However, ICU ambulance technician Rabindranath Mandal noticed a faint pulse and insisted on taking the girl to Contai Sub-district Hospital. She was immediately admitted to the ICU, where doctors provided intensive care. Over the course of seven days, she gradually recovered and was discharged fully healed.

The girl expressed her gratitude by garlanding the hospital staff, while the miraculous recovery created a sensation in the local community.

Hospital superintendent Arup Ratan Karan told the media, “If a written complaint is filed, we will investigate and take action against the doctors who declared her dead. It is a proud moment for us that our ambulance technician’s alertness saved this young life. After ICU treatment, she is now returning home healthy.”

The incident highlights the critical role of attentive healthcare workers in emergency situations and has drawn widespread attention across the district.
