St Mary’s School inaugurates amphitheatre, lays foundation stone for canteen & badminton court

Udupi, Feb 11: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the canteen block and indoor Badminton court, along with the inauguration of an amphitheatre, was held at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady Udupi campus on February 11.

The foundation stone ceremony and amphitheatre was blessed by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi. This was followed by the inauguration of the amphitheatre, which was marked by unveiling of the name board by Shamili Shankar, director of Shamili Infrastructure Private Limited Ambalpady and ribbon cutting by MLA Yashpal Suvarna.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo said that St Mary’s English Medium School has earned a reputation for quality education in Udupi district. He noted that the new facilities, including the canteen and badminton court, and the district’s first amphitheatre at a school campus, would contribute significantly to the overall development of students. He wished the institution continued growth and success.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna, in his address, said that the school is known for imparting quality education and has produced many responsible citizens, including himself. Expressing happiness over participating in the programme as both an MLA and an alumnus, he said that along with academics, the institution is giving importance to sports and arts. He added that Udupi, known as the ‘Kashi of Education’, should also grow in the field of sports, and such initiatives would help encourage young talents.

On the occasion, MLA Yashpal Suvarna and Shamili Shankar were felicitated for their contributions.

Fr Vijay Joyson D’souza, principal of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady welcomed the gathering and presented the introductory note. The event was compered by Vinay Suvarna S.

The event marked an important milestone in strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and commitment towards holistic education.
