Los Angeles, Feb 10: The mischievous Minions are back, and their trademark chaos is set to return to the big screen with the release of the first trailer of Minions 3, officially titled ‘Minions & Monsters’. The trailer was unveiled during the Super Bowl on Sunday, much to the delight of fans worldwide.

Shared by Universal Pictures, the two-minute-long trailer shows the Minions, now celebrated movie stars, embarking on a new adventure as they search for monsters to feature in their upcoming film. Their quest takes an unexpected turn when they use spells from a mystical book to conjure a creature, only to release a small green monster thrilled to be freed.

However, the Minions’ curiosity doesn’t stop there. Joined by the newly freed creature, they set off to summon and search for more monsters, unknowingly unleashing widespread chaos. As events spiral out of control, the Minions are left with no choice but to save the planet from the mayhem they themselves have created.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Pierre Coffin, who directed the first three Despicable Me films and the original Minions, returns to helm the third Minions outing. The film has been scripted by Brian Lynch. Coffin has also continued his iconic role as the voice of the beloved yellow characters since Despicable Me (2010).

The latest film in the franchise, Despicable Me 4, released in 2024, proved to be a massive critical and commercial success, earning over $972 million worldwide.

Minions & Monsters marks the seventh instalment in the Despicable Me franchise and serves as a sequel to Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022). The film is backed by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri along with Bill Ryan, executive producer of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The animated entertainer is slated for a global theatrical release on July 1.
