Mumbai, Jan 31: The recently released war drama Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, has continued its strong run at the box office, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide within just nine days of its release.

The film, which hit theatres on January 23, has shown remarkable staying power, maintaining steady footfalls even as new releases arrive. After a solid opening and a record-breaking Republic Day weekend, Border 2 sustained its momentum through the second weekend as well.

According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s India net collection stands at around Rs 252.75 crore in nine days, with overseas markets contributing significantly to its global total. On Day 9, the second Saturday, the film collected approximately Rs 17.75 crore, a notable jump from its second Friday collection of Rs 10.75 crore. The holiday boost aided the growth, but trade analysts say the numbers also reflect strong and sustained audience interest.

Despite competition from Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3, Border 2 has remained largely unaffected, consistently posting double-digit collections for nine consecutive days. Trade experts note that the film’s hold at the box office confirms its wide appeal across demographics.

Globally, the film is estimated to have crossed Rs 350 crore. Mounted on an estimated budget of Rs 275 crore, Border 2 has clearly emerged as a hit. However, it will need to maintain its pace further to earn blockbuster status.

In comparison with other major releases, Border 2 has already surpassed War 2’s lifetime India collection and overtaken the worldwide totals of Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 335.99 crore), Drishyam 2 (Rs 339.89 crore) and RRR (Hindi version, Rs 342.12 crore).

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 carries forward the legacy of J. P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 film Border. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, and also features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Paramvir Cheema, Anya Singh and Medha Rana in key supporting roles.
