Nalgonda, Feb 1: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly killed a man’s wife and their six-month-old infant by setting them on fire at a village in Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Saturday, police said.
According to police, the accused was in a relationship with the woman’s husband and was allegedly upset after he married another woman and distanced himself from her. Acting on this grievance, the accused reportedly went to the man’s house on Saturday afternoon, poured petrol on his 28-year-old wife and set her ablaze.

The woman suffered severe burn injuries and died on the spot, police said. The couple’s six-month-old son, who also sustained burn injuries in the incident, was rushed to a government hospital, where he later succumbed during treatment.
Police said the accused was carrying petrol, a knife and chilli powder at the time of the incident. The man was not present at the house when the incident took place.
Investigators are probing all angles of the case, including whether the man had any role in the incident. Police also said the accused woman had been married earlier, but her husband had died.
Further investigation is underway.
