Businessman shot, robbed of Rs 6 lac near ATM

Kothi, Jan 31: In a shocking daylight robbery, two armed assailants fired at a businessman and fled with around Rs 6 lakh near an ATM in the Kothi area on Saturday morning, police said.

The victim, a cloth merchant, had gone to the ATM to deposit cash when the robbers intercepted him and opened fire using a country-made pistol. One bullet struck him in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground. Taking advantage of the situation, the assailants snatched his bag containing the cash and escaped on a motorcycle.

The injured businessman was rushed to a hospital, where doctors said his condition is out of danger. Police confirmed that one round hit the victim, while another round may also have been fired during the incident.

CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined and special police teams have been formed to trace and nab the culprits, officials said.
