Mangaluru, Jan 29: Simon CA, superintendent of police (SP) with the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) and one of the senior officials serving in the city, was awarded the prestigious Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day.
SP Simon is widely known for his association with several Special Investigation Teams (SITs) constituted by the government to probe sensational and high-profile cases. He began his professional journey as a detective sub-inspector with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), after practising as an advocate in Mangaluru. Over the years, he rose through various ranks in the police department.

During his career, he has served in several sensitive wings, including the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Lokayukta. His investigative credentials include being part of multiple SITs that handled complex cases such as probes involving BJP MLA Munirathna, MP Prajwal Revanna, the team that investigated allegations of corruption in the Lokayukta, and the recent Dharmasthala mass burial case.
SP Simon has also been involved in major investigations such as the Telgi stamp paper scam and has served in the Economic Offences Division of the CID, gaining extensive experience in handling financial and organised crime cases.
SP Simon CA being conferred with the Medal for Meritorious Service is seen as recognition of his dedicated service and contribution to complex and sensitive investigations over the years.
