‘Ammu Ammundar’ Tulu play by Kinnigoli Vijay Kalavidaru enthrals audience in Vadodara

Vadodara, Jan 27: Marking the 77th Republic Day celebrations of the nation, a cultural programme was organised on Monday at the Saurashtra Jain Bhavan auditorium in Vadodara, Gujarat. The event was held on the Mathrushree Late Kuvettu Kashi Babu Shetty stage by Shashi Abhimana Balaga, Vadodara.

The programme commenced with a tribute in memory of late Kashi Babu Shetty. Pramila Shashi Shetty, director of Shashi Catering Service Private Limited, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Later, under the sponsorship of Tulu Sangha Vadodara president Shashidhar B Shetty (Guruvayanakere), the Vijay Kalavidaru troupe led by Sharath Shetty, Kinnigoli, staged the Tulu comedy family drama Ammu Ammundar, directed by Vijaykumar Kodialbail.

Organised as part of the patriotic fervour of Republic Day, the play aimed at nurturing cultural values among Tulu Kannadigas living outside their homeland and promoting family bonding. The comedy-filled evening strengthened family values through laughter and entertainment, drawing an enthusiastic response from the Tulu and Kannada-speaking community in Vadodara. Pramila Shashi Shetty and others felicitated the artistes on the occasion.

Among those present were Sruthi Shetty, Sourya Shetty, K Madhava Shetty, Balakrishna A Shetty, Mahaveer B Jain, Madankumar Gowda Moodigere, Dinesh Shetty, Srinivas Shetty, Ravindra Shetty, Prashanth Shetty, Dayanand Salyan, Saiprasad Shetty, Karthik Gowda and several other dignitaries, along with a large number of art lovers.

Sharath Shetty, Kinnigoli, introduced the artistes and the troupe. Dr Sharmila M Jain welcomed the gathering and compered the programme, while CA Prashanth S Hegde, Kouduru, proposed the vote of thanks.
