Washington, Jan 25: Several TikTok users across the United States on Monday reported difficulties accessing the popular short-video platform, triggering concerns over a possible widespread outage. Complaints flooded outage-tracking platforms and social media, with users stating that the app failed to load or functioned erratically.
According to reports on Downdetector and Reddit, many users experienced glitches on the app, particularly with the “For You” page, while others said the service was completely inaccessible. TikTok has not issued any official statement so far, and the cause of the disruption remains unclear.

Downdetector data showed that over 36,000 users across the US reported problems during the outage. Of these, nearly 64 per cent complained of issues with the app itself, 23 per cent said the platform was entirely down, and 13 per cent reported that their feed or timeline failed to load properly.
The outage appeared to affect several major cities, including Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Tampa, Washington, Chicago and Detroit, with users from other regions also reporting similar issues.
Meanwhile, social media platforms such as X, Instagram and Reddit were abuzz with reactions, memes and jokes as users shared their frustration over the sudden disruption. While some joked about being “forced to be productive,” others posted screenshots of error messages and glitches.
One user wrote on X, “TIKTOK GOING DOWN AFTER I GO ON MY EDITING ACC AND NOT LETTING ME SWITCH BACK TO MY MAIN IM MAD ASF.”
Another posted, “Me checking Twitter to see if anyone else’s TikTok stopped working randomly in the middle of doom scrolling.”
A third user tweeted, “I restarted TikTok, my phone, updated the app, turned my WiFi off and NOTHING. #tiktokdown.”
As users await clarity from the company, uncertainty remains over what triggered the outage and when full services will be restored.
