Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated several developmental projects and flagged off new train services in Kerala, highlighting the Centre’s continued efforts to boost the state’s growth. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that a renewed awareness among the people reflects the impact of central initiatives in the state’s development.
The Prime Minister flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a Thrissur-Guruvayur passenger train, enhancing rail connectivity between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that these steps will further strengthen rail infrastructure and transform Thiruvananthapuram into a major national hub.

In addition, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a CSIR-NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub and launched the PM SVANidhi Credit Card, a UPI-linked, interest-free revolving credit facility. He also disbursed loan amounts and credit cards to beneficiaries under the PM SVANidhi scheme, aimed at improving the welfare of the economically weaker sections across Kerala and the country.
Further highlighting advancements in healthcare and urban services, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Radiosurgery Centre at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology and inaugurated the new Poojappura Head Post Office.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed the initiatives, stating that the projects will significantly contribute to Kerala’s development. “These projects are of great significance to the state. We have been consistently seeking the Union government’s approval for many of these initiatives, and today’s launches mark a moment of satisfaction,” he said, expressing hope that the Centre will continue its support for Kerala in a time-bound manner.
PM Modi concluded by asserting that the collective efforts of the nation are driving India towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’, with urban infrastructure playing a crucial role in this developmental journey.
