New Delhi, Jan 19: In a mark of warm diplomatic ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally welcomed UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Delhi airport on Monday, as the UAE leader embarked on his third official visit to India since taking office.
Highlighting the closeness of their relationship, both leaders traveled together in the same car from the airport, symbolizing the enduring friendship and multi-dimensional partnership between India and the UAE. This marks the UAE President’s fifth visit to India in the last decade.

PM Modi shared his sentiments on X, writing:
"Went to the airport to welcome my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. His visit illustrates the importance he attaches to a strong India-UAE friendship. Looking forward to our discussions."
The visit builds on a series of high-level exchanges, including the September 2024 visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the April 2025 visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE and Crown Prince of Dubai.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India and the UAE share close, multi-faceted relations, anchored in strong political, cultural, and economic ties. Both countries rank among each other’s top trading and investment partners, strengthened by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system, and the Bilateral Investment Treaty. The partnership also extends to energy cooperation, including long-term supply arrangements.
The UAE President’s visit is expected to provide a platform for the two leaders to explore new avenues for the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and exchange views on regional and global issues where both nations share strong alignment.
This engagement underscores the deepening strategic, economic, and diplomatic bonds between India and the UAE, reflecting a partnership that continues to expand across multiple sectors.
