Bhopal, Jan 15: Five people lost their lives and ten others were injured late Wednesday night when a van and a tractor trolley collided in the Berasia area of Madhya Pradesh’s capital, police said on Thursday.
The tractor trolley was transporting people returning from a holy bath in Narmadapuram on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, while the van was headed toward Narmadapuram, Berasia police station inspector Vijendra Sen said. The vehicles collided head-on, causing severe damage.

Police personnel rushed to the scene and rescued passengers trapped in the wrecked vehicles. Among the five who died on the spot were three members of the same family. The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Ahirwar (40), Babri Bai (60), Deepak (14), Laxmi Bai (60), and Hari Bai (60), all residents of Sironj.
Ten individuals, including three children from both vehicles, sustained injuries and were admitted to Hamidia Hospital and other private medical facilities in Bhopal for treatment.
