Uttarakhand, Jan 13: A low-intensity earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck near Bageshwar district in Uttarakhand on Tuesday morning, triggering brief panic among residents, officials said.
According to the District Disaster Management Office, the tremor occurred at around 7.25 am, with its epicentre located near Kapkot town, about 30 km from the Bageshwar district headquarters. The sudden jolt prompted people in several areas to rush out of their homes as a precaution.

Bageshwar District Disaster Management Officer Shikha Suyal said that no loss of life or property has been reported so far. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, though the tremor was described as mild in nature.
Officials have urged residents to remain calm and follow standard safety measures in the event of aftershocks.
