Mumbai, Jan 10: Yash Raj Films has officially advanced the release of its much-anticipated film Mardaani 3, which will now hit theatres on January 30, 2026. The announcement signals strong confidence in the franchise, which has remained one of Hindi cinema’s most respected female-led series for over a decade.

The third installment is being positioned as an intense, violent face-off between righteousness and deeply entrenched evil. The story follows Shivani Shivaji Roy as she embarks on a high-stakes race against time to track down and rescue numerous missing girls across the country, pushing the character into her most dangerous mission yet.

Regarded as the biggest solo female-led franchise in Hindi cinema, Mardaani has earned both critical acclaim and audience loyalty since its debut. It is also widely recognized as India’s only film franchise centered on a female police officer, a distinction that has set it apart in the industry.

Rani Mukerji returns once again as the fearless and principled cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, a role that has become iconic over the years. The first Mardaani, released in 2014, marked Mukerji’s return to the big screen after her marriage and was praised for its hard-hitting take on human trafficking. Mardaani 2 escalated the tension further by delving into the psyche of a brutal serial offender who openly challenged law enforcement.

Earlier, Mukerji had described Mardaani 3 as “dark, deadly and brutal,” a statement that sparked widespread curiosity among fans and heightened expectations for the film. Staying true to the franchise’s reputation, the new chapter is set to explore another disturbing and uncomfortable reality of society while maintaining its trademark edge-of-the-seat storytelling.

The film is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra. With its earlier release date and promise of a more uncompromising narrative, Mardaani 3 aims to raise the stakes higher than ever while continuing the franchise’s legacy of socially relevant, gripping cinema.
