Ferozepur, Jan 9: A pall of grief descended on Punjab’s Ferozepur district after a family of four was found dead inside their house on Thursday morning. Police suspect that the head of the family allegedly shot his wife and two minor daughters before taking his own life.
The deceased have been identified as Amandeep Singh (42), his wife Jasveer Kaur (40), and their daughters Manveer Kaur (10) and Parmeet Kaur (6). A pistol, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the spot.

The incident came to light when the family’s househelp arrived in the morning and found the house locked from inside. Despite repeated knocks and calls, there was no response. She then alerted the tenant residing on the first floor, who, along with neighbours, tried contacting the family members but received no reply.
Suspecting something amiss, neighbours broke open the door and were shocked to find all four lying dead inside the house. Police were immediately informed and rushed to the spot.
According to preliminary information, Amandeep Singh was a builder and financier and also ran a salon. Senior Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
“A forensic team has been deployed to collect evidence from the scene. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned and statements of neighbours, the tenant and others have been recorded,” the SSP said.
The bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur for post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
