Udupi: Traffic restrictions and diversions announced for Paryaya Purapravesha procession

Udupi, Jan 8: As part of the Udupi Sri Krishna Math Paryaya Mahotsava scheduled to be held on January 17 and 18, 2026, the Paryaya Purapravesha procession will take place on January 9.

The procession will commence from Sharada Kalyana Mantapa, proceed via Route 169(A) to Shiribeedu Junction, and from there move through the service bus stand – Triveni Junction – Kanakadasa Road.

Considering public safety and convenience, the Udupi City police have issued orders imposing traffic restrictions and diversions within Udupi city limits on January 9, from 1 pm to 7 pm.

Traffic Diversions and Restrictions:

Vehicles traveling from Manipal to Udupi city must take a left turn near Sunag Hospital (opposite MBM), proceed via Sudhindra Kalyana Mantapa, take another left turn near SKM, and continue through Beedinagudde – Chittadi – Ammani Ramanna Hall Road, then reach Mission Compound Junction to enter Udupi city.

Vehicular movement will be completely restricted on the one-way road from Shiribeedu Junction to the Service Bus Stand via Kidiyoor Hotel during the entry of the procession.

All vehicles entering Udupi city from the Mangaluru side must divert from Old Diana Circle towards Mitra Priya Junction, proceed via Chitranjan Circle, Sanskrit College Junction, Jamia Masjid Junction, take a left turn, and reach the Service Bus Stand.

These traffic restrictions will not apply to VVIP vehicles, government vehicles and all types of emergency service vehicles

The police department has appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police and follow the traffic regulations in the interest of smooth conduct of the Paryaya Purapravesha procession
