Invitation released, media centre inaugurated for Shiroor Paryaya-2026 in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 7: The release of the invitation for the Shiroor Paryaya-2026 celebrations and the inauguration of the media centre were held as part of the preparatory events for the upcoming Paryaya on January 7, at Shiroor Math Auditorium.

The media centre was inaugurated by Udupi MLA and president of the Paryaya Swagatha Committee, Yashpal Suvarna. The special invitation was released by Sri Ramana Upadhyaya, Moktesar of the Anegudde Kshetra, who conveyed his blessings, expressing hope that the Paryaya would be conducted smoothly with the grace of Sri Krishna and Mukhyaprana Devaru.

Addressing a press conference held later, general secretary Mattar Ratnakar Hegde provided details regarding the arrangements for the Paryaya programmes and the Pura Pravesha.

Speaking on the occasion, Pura Pravesha procession coordinator Ganesh Rao said that the procession would commence from Kadiyali, pass through the City Bus Stand, and conclude at the Sri Krishna Math. He informed that more than 1,000 bhajane performers, local folk-art troupes from Udupi, and several dignitaries would participate in the procession.

Horekanike coordinator Suprasad Shetty said that in line with the wish of Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Swamiji, arrangements have been made to ensure offerings from every household in Udupi district. For this purpose, the district has been divided into eight zones, with a total of 54 horekannike centres set up.

He also informed that offerings would be made by Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, fishermen’s associations, cooperative unions, devotees’ groups from Belthangady, Kannarpadi Bhakta Balaga, Mattu Gulla Samarpane teams, and various organizations from different taluk centers.

Addressing the gathering, Swagatha Committee president and MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that only ten days remain for the Paryaya and that various essential programs are being conducted. He added that road development and basic infrastructure works are also underway through the City Municipality and appealed to the public to participate in large numbers and make the event a grand success.

Those present on the dais included, Math Diwan Dr Udayakumar Saralattaya, general secretary Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, secretary Mohan Bhat, Balaji Yogeesh Shetty, treasurer Jayaprakash Kedlaya, Indrali Jayakar Shetty, Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Ganesh Rao, Ramesh Kanchan, Dinakar Heroor, Ramesh Bangera, Publicity Committee Coordinator Nandan Jain, Madhukar Mudradi, among others. The programme was compered by Ashwath Bharadwaj.

Meanwhile, Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, honorary advisor to the Shirur Paryaya, was formally presented with the invitation on behalf of the Shirur Math by Math Diwan Dr Udayakumar Saralattaya.
