Mapusa, Jan 4: Two deaths were reported from Bardez taluka on Sunday in separate incidents, sending shockwaves across the region.
In the first incident, the body of a missing elderly woman was recovered from Tivim following a search operation. Personnel from the Mapusa Fire and Emergency Services, along with Colvale police, carried out the recovery. The woman had been reported missing earlier, and police have initiated further procedures while investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
In another tragic incident, a woman jumped from the Moira bridge on Sunday. She was immediately rescued and rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Police have registered cases in both incidents and are conducting separate investigations to ascertain the exact causes and circumstances leading to the deaths.
