Pernem, Dec 30: In a major breakthrough, Pernem police have apprehended two suspects involved in a string of daytime burglaries across the region. The accused have been identified as 29-year-old Rohan Mahadev Padwal and 20-year-old Jagannath, also known as Ketan Bagkar. Their arrest follows a meticulous investigation into multiple housebreaking incidents reported in the Pernem belt.
Police sources revealed that the investigation led to the recovery of stolen items—including gold, laptops, and other valuables—worth approximately Rs 53.68 lac. The recovered property was traced to banks, finance institutions, and the residences of the accused. Authorities also seized two scooters, a grinder cutter machine allegedly used to break locks, and three mobile phones used to coordinate the crimes.

The duo has been linked to a series of housebreaking cases reported since December 2024 in villages including Pernem, Dhargal, Virnoda, Tuem, and Korgao. Police investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspects were involved in similar offences elsewhere.
