Bengaluru, Dec 26: Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) has announced an extension of the free parking duration for taxis at Terminal 1 pickup areas from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, with effect from December 26.

The move comes shortly after the implementation of new pickup rules at Terminal 1 on December 13, which mandated that all commercial vehicles must park only at the designated P3 and P4 zones, where they were entitled to 10 minutes of complimentary parking.

With the revised rules, cab drivers can now wait for 15 minutes free of charge. Beyond this period, taxis will be required to pay Rs 100 for a half-hour slot and Rs 50 for every additional hour.

Passengers can access the parking zones using shuttle buses that operate every seven minutes, in addition to buggies and cars available at Terminal 1.

A BIAL spokesperson said, “We have extended the complimentary parking time to ease the pickup experience for passengers and cab drivers, ensuring smoother operations at Terminal 1.”

The airport authority has emphasised that the new rules aim to regulate traffic at pickup points and improve overall passenger convenience.
