Mangaluru, Dec 11: The Kankanady police have registered cases against 16 Instagram accounts for posting highly provocative content aimed at inciting communal tensions.

According to police sources, the accused accounts had shared posts suggesting revenge through murder, creating fear and attempting to ignite communal sentiments. The posts, which circulated rapidly on social media, have raised serious concerns among law-enforcement officials.

Authorities noted that such inflammatory content had reduced for a period after strict monitoring of social media platforms. However, the recent surge in provocative posts has prompted the police to take firm action once again.

The investigation is underway, and officials have warned that stringent measures will be taken against anyone misusing social media to disturb harmony in the region.
