Chandigarh, Dec 7: Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu will return to active politics if the Congress declares him as the party's chief ministerial face in Punjab, his wife and party leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu has said.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday after meeting Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on issues including the alleged deteriorating law and order in the state, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said, "We always speak for Punjab and Punjabiyat... but we do not have Rs 500 crore to sit in the chief minister's chair."

On being asked if anybody demanded money from them, she added, "Nobody has demanded it, but the one who gives a suitcase of Rs 500 crore becomes the CM. If any party gives him that power, we will give results and turn Punjab into a golden state."
She also highlighted infighting within the Punjab Congress unit, claiming that already five leaders aspire to the chief minister’s position, which may block Sidhu’s promotion.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu said her husband remains strongly attached to the Congress and party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra but added, "With so much infighting, I do not feel they will let Navjot Sidhu be promoted. If the high command understands this, then it is a different matter."
On whether Sidhu would return to BJP if offered the responsibility, she said she could not comment. On his political comeback, she confirmed, "He will return if announced as CM face; otherwise, he is earning well and is happy."
Sidhu has been away from party activities for months and did not campaign in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He made a comeback to cricket commentary during IPL 2024 and launched his YouTube channel, 'Navjot Sidhu Official', in April to share life experiences, cricket insights, motivational talks, and lifestyle content.
Punjab Assembly polls are scheduled in 2027.
