Udupi, Dec 6: In a late-night mishap near Ulloor playground under the Keddur gram panchayat limits, a speeding car lost control and plunged into a roadside drain around 12:30 am on Thursday. Fortunately, all five occupants of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
As per sources, the youth from Markodu near Koteshwar were returning home after a party at a bar in Keddur when the accident occurred. The impact of the crash was so severe that three roadside electric poles were uprooted and the car suffered extensive damage.
Airbags deployed on time, preventing major injuries to the passengers. Another vehicle passing by rushed the injured youth to a nearby hospital for first aid.
Overspeeding and suspected drunk driving are said to have led to the accident.
