Khagaria, Nov 29: In a shocking incident that has shaken Khagaria, unidentified assailants opened fire on senior BJP leader Dilip Kumar in broad daylight on Friday, leaving him critically injured.

The attack occurred in the Gangaur police station limits, where Kumar sustained a deep gunshot wound to his chest. Locals immediately rushed him to Khagaria Sadar Hospital. Doctors described his condition as “extremely critical” before referring him to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment.

Dilip Kumar, a former General Secretary of the BJP’s Khagaria unit and currently a Mandal Working Committee member, is known for his strong influence in local political and social circles. The assault has sparked fear and anger among residents and party workers.

Speaking to reporters, his wife said, “I received a call from him, and he simply said that someone had shot at him.” Family members rushed to the hospital soon after the incident.

Gangaur Police Station In-charge Sundar Paswan said the priority was ensuring immediate medical care. “No written complaint has been received yet. However, we have begun the investigation and raids are underway to identify and arrest the accused,” he said.

He added that CCTV footage from the area was being scanned. “We are also waiting for the victim’s recovery to record his statement, which will be crucial in identifying the perpetrators and the motive.”

The brazen daylight attack has once again raised questions over the law and order situation in Khagaria. Locals have demanded swift action from authorities and immediate arrest of the attackers.
