Srinagar, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached movable property worth Rs 22 lakh belonging to a notorious drug trafficker, Mohd. Yousaf, from Pulwama district, as part of ongoing anti-narcotics operations in Udhampur.

According to a police statement, Yousaf, also known as Mohd. Yousaf Joo of Wuyan, Pampore, was found to own a Toyota Innova vehicle during an investigation linked to a case at Rehambal Police Station. Authorities believe the vehicle was purchased using proceeds from illegal drug trade. The property has now been attached under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for further legal proceedings.

This action adds to Udhampur Police’s year-long crackdown, during which assets worth Rs 12 crore linked to narcotics offences have already been seized. “This demonstrates our commitment to creating a drug-free society and protecting youth from the menace of addiction,” the police said.

In a separate operation in Jammu district, police arrested four individuals and recovered small quantities of heroin-like substances, a car, a motorcycle, and an electronic weighing scale. Seized amounts included 2.11 grams from Rohit Jamwal, 1.55 grams from Abhishek Jamwal, and 2.23 grams each from Arvind Singh and Aditya Singh, all residents of Jindrah.

Authorities emphasized that aggressive operations against drug smuggling, hawala networks, and other illicit financial activities are ongoing, noting that proceeds from such crimes are often funneled to sustain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
