Robert Vadra defends Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, prioritising nation over politics

New Delhi, Nov 18: Businessman Robert Vadra on Tuesday praised Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, saying their commitment to the nation and its secular values outweighs any concern for electoral victories or defeats. Speaking to reporters, Vadra described the siblings as deeply rooted in politics and driven by a sense of duty toward India rather than personal or party gains.

Vadra’s comments come amid heightened tensions following the Bihar elections, where the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan campaigned vigorously on allegations of voter manipulation and irregularities, claims firmly denied by the BJP and the Election Commission of India. Despite the coalition’s efforts, the results were heavily in favour of the NDA, which secured over 200 seats, while the grand alliance failed to surpass 35 in the 243-member Assembly.

Highlighting the Gandhis’ approach to politics, Vadra said, “Rahul and Priyanka have inherited lessons from their family. They have experienced both triumphs and setbacks. Wins and losses do not define them; their focus remains on the country’s progress and protecting India’s secular fabric.”

Addressing critics who question Rahul Gandhi’s suitability for politics, Vadra remarked, “Had Congress emerged victorious, the same critics would have proclaimed Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister.” He also suggested that if the Bihar elections had been conducted using ballot papers instead of electronic voting, the results might have been very different.

Vadra’s remarks underline the Gandhis’ emphasis on public service and national interest, even as the Bihar defeat raises questions about the Congress and the grand alliance’s electoral strategies.
