New Delhi, Nov 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described India not just as an emerging market but as an “emerging model” for the world, citing the country’s sustained high economic growth despite global disruptions. Speaking at the Ramnath Goenka lecture, he highlighted that India has maintained around 7% growth despite supply chain disruptions from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
PM Modi noted that India’s development approach is now being recognized globally as a model. He emphasized that over the last 11 years, the government has expanded social security coverage to 94 crore people, compared with just 25 crore under previous regimes, and lifted over 28 crore citizens out of poverty through initiatives such as Jan Dhan accounts.

Highlighting inclusive development, the Prime Minister pointed to the transformation of India’s 100 poorest districts into “Aspirational Districts,” with top officers now deployed to drive growth rather than sending them on punitive postings.
PM Modi also urged state governments to foster investment-friendly environments and ease of doing business to ensure development benefits reach all sections of society. Citing achievements like the construction of 12 crore toilets, he said the government’s focus on infrastructure and social welfare has restored dignity and improved quality of life for millions.
