Chennai, Nov 13: Director Harikumaran’s Tamil film Kinaru, which has already bagged six international awards, is all set to release in theatres on November 14, coinciding with Children’s Day.

Produced by Suriya Narayanan and Vinod Sekar, Kinaru is presented by Madras Stories, the banner known for championing emerging filmmakers through acclaimed titles like Burkha and Lineman.

A celebrity premiere held recently in Chennai saw several film industry stars and about 30 children enjoy the screening. The audience lauded the film’s heartfelt storytelling and visual appeal.

Kinaru has earned awards for Best Film, Cinematography, and Direction at major festivals including the Pegasus Film Festival 2024, Accolade Global Film Competition, and IndieFEST Film Awards. It was also selected for the World Cinema Competition at the Chennai International Film Festival 2024.

Describing his film, Harikumaran said, “Kinaru is a story about childhood dreams, friendship, faith, and family. It follows four village children who, after being insulted and barred from playing near a neighbour’s well, decide to dig their own. Their determination and innocence drive a touching and humorous journey that resonates with all ages.”

The film features cinematography by Gautham Venkatesh, whose visuals capture the story’s warmth and charm, music by Bhuvanesh Selvanesan, and editing by K.S. Gautham Raj. Sound mixing is by Daniel, and sound design by Kishore Kamaraj.

Blending innocence, humour, and emotional depth, Kinaru promises to be a refreshing family entertainer for this Children’s Day.
