New Delhi, Nov 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security meeting on Tuesday, a day after a powerful blast near Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station killed nine people and left several others injured.

The review meeting, to be held at Kartavya Bhawan, will be attended by Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Delhi Police Commissioner, and other senior officials.

The blast, which occurred around 7 pm on Monday near the Subhash Marg traffic signal, led to a massive security alert in the national capital. Red alerts were issued across Delhi, while neighbouring states including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra were also put on high alert.

Teams from Delhi Police, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and the NIA are jointly investigating the explosion. Officials said CCTV footage shows a suspect driving a white Hyundai i20 — the car that later exploded — entering and exiting the parking area near the site alone.

“Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj, and over 100 CCTV clips, including footage from nearby toll plazas, are being analysed to track the vehicle’s complete movement,” sources told ANI.

A case has been registered under Sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), along with relevant provisions of the Explosives Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), at Kotwali Police Station.

Confirming the incident, Amit Shah said, “Around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort, injuring some pedestrians and damaging vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate casualties. Within minutes, Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch teams reached the spot.”

He assured that all possible angles are being investigated. “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation. All options will be examined, and the findings will be shared with the public,” Shah said.
