Akhilesh hits back at Yogi’s ‘Appu, Pappu, Tappu’ remark

Patna, Nov 5: In a sharp counter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s jibe calling him, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav “Appu, Pappu and Tappu,” Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said that if Adityanath sat among a group of monkeys, no one would be able to recognize him.

“The BJP is remembering Gandhiji’s three monkeys only to divert people’s attention from real issues. The truth is, if he were made to sit among a troop of monkeys, neither you nor I could identify him,” Akhilesh said while addressing an election rally ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath had launched an attack on the Opposition, comparing Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to Gandhiji’s three monkeys. “These three—Appu, Pappu and Tappu—want to lie to the people of Bihar and bring back jungle raj,” Adityanath had said during a rally in Muzaffarpur.

He claimed that under the RJD’s rule, Bihar witnessed rampant crime and lawlessness. “Today, Bihar is progressing under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. The NDA will continue to bring development, while the Opposition only seeks to divide people on caste lines,” Adityanath asserted.

Bihar is witnessing a heated campaign ahead of the Assembly elections. The first phase of polling will take place tomorrow, followed by the second on November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. The ruling NDA, comprising JDU, BJP, LJP, and HAM(S), faces the Mahagathbandhan alliance of RJD, Congress, Left parties, and VIP.
