Jaipur, Nov 1: A tragic incident was reported from Jaipur on Saturday when a Class 6 student died after falling from the fourth floor of Neerja Modi School in the Mansarovar area. Police said preliminary investigations suggest a possible case of suicide, though a detailed probe has been initiated to determine the exact cause.

The deceased, identified as Amaira, was the only child of her parents. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after the fall, where doctors declared her brought dead, said Mansarovar Station House Officer (SHO) Lakhan Khatana.

Police teams have retrieved CCTV footage from the school premises to piece together the sequence of events. Forensic experts were also called in to collect evidence from the spot. “We are investigating the matter from all possible angles. The post-mortem is being conducted at Jaipuria Hospital in the presence of her family,” the SHO said.

Meanwhile, the incident sparked outrage among parents and education activists. Abhishek Jain, spokesperson of the Joint Parents Association, alleged that Amaira took the extreme step after being upset over the behaviour of a teacher. “We have spoken to several students who confirmed that the girl was disturbed due to a teacher’s conduct. The school administration also cleaned the spot soon after the incident, possibly destroying crucial evidence,” Jain claimed.

He further criticised the education system for failing to ensure student safety, saying, “Neither the government nor schools take security seriously. Measures are implemented only after such tragedies occur. Parents must be included in school committees to ensure accountability.”

Reacting to the incident, Rajasthan School Education Minister Madan Dilawar expressed deep sorrow and instructed the district education officer to conduct a thorough investigation. “It seems the school lacked adequate safety arrangements. I have directed the officials to submit a detailed report at the earliest,” he said.

The shocking death of the young girl has once again raised serious questions about student welfare and safety protocols in private educational institutions across the state.
