Mangaluru, Oct 31: St Agnes PU College celebrated Elders' Day with grace and heartfelt appreciation, honouring the wisdom and love that grandparents bring to families on October 31. The event began with a warm welcome to grandparents by offering a rose.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, invoking God’s strength. Retro songs from the 1960s and 70s filled the air, bringing a sense of nostalgia, and a beautiful dance performance delighted the audience.

Nancy Vaz, the chief guest expressed “grandparents are first teachers of life, the enduring bridge between parents and children” she continued with profound insights to appreciate themselves as ‘Grandparents’ and renew the purpose of life. She encouraged them to look at their hands that have shown compassion over the years and continue to do the same. Relaxing funfilled games were conducted bring back life and energy among the grandparents.

The winners were awarded prizes. A short video clipping of grandparents was presented by some of our students highlighting their love and support.

Principal Sr Norine D’Souza, Dr Tressie Menezes, coordinator of Abhaya, Teena D’Souza & Sr Sannidhi, coordinators of the programme, faculty members both teaching and non-teaching along with the grandparents of the students, PTA members participated in the programme.

The event was elegantly compered by Swasthika Shetty, with a welcome speech by Shakthi, and the vote of thanks delivered by Meghanashree. Grandparents were presented with a token of love, marking the end of a memorable and meaningful celebration.
