Man arrested after fatal stabbing in West London; police rule out terror motive

London, Oct 29: Police have arrested a man following a stabbing rampage in west London’s Uxbridge area on Tuesday that left one person dead and two others injured. Authorities have ruled out any terrorist connection to the attack.

According to police, emergency responders found a 49-year-old man who died at the scene, while a 45-year-old man sustained serious injuries. A 14-year-old boy was also hurt, though his injuries were not life-threatening.

“This was a shocking and senseless act of violence,” said Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall, adding that investigators are probing whether the suspect had any prior links with the victims.

UK media reported that the suspect is an Afghan national, a detail partly confirmed by the Home Office, which stated that the man is a foreigner legally residing in Britain since 2022. The ministry clarified that he entered the UK in a truck in 2020 and was later granted asylum.

Officials also dismissed social media rumours claiming that the man was staying in government-provided accommodation. “He was not living in a hotel or any property funded by the authorities,” the Home Office said.

The case has reignited tensions over asylum policies in Britain, coming amid growing anti-immigrant sentiment and recent protests linked to crimes involving asylum seekers.
