Mangaluru, Oct 28: Centre for Social Concern (CSC) of St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru, organised a thought-provoking talk by Vidya Dinker, a renowned social activist known for her work in civic engagement, social justice, and environmental causes.
Addressing the students on the theme 'Beyond What Meets the Eye', Dinker urged young minds to look deeper into the world around them - to see beyond appearances and to understand the human stories and social realities that often go unnoticed. She spoke passionately about the value of finding joy in small, meaningful interactions and the transformative power of empathy in shaping a compassionate society.

Through engaging anecdotes and personal reflections, Dinker illustrated how happiness is not found in material success but in acts of kindness and consistency in doing good. She emphasized that social change begins with individual awareness and the courage to question injustice. A short film depicting the aftermath of the Yamuna river floods in Delhi was screened, serving as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of humanity and nature.
Encouraging students, especially young women, to believe in themselves, Dinker shared practical insights on building confidence, resilience, and self-worth. Her interactive style, candid responses, and ability to connect with the audience made the session both inspiring and deeply reflective.
The talk left students with a renewed sense of purpose, to observe more keenly, act more compassionately, and become catalysts for positive change in their communities. CSC members, Kriti M introduced the chief guest and Asiyammath Jazi compered the programme.
