Yakshavasyam Karimja to celebrate 5th anniversary on Nov 1; award for Kuriya Ganapathi Shastri

Bantwal, Oct 27: Yakshavasyam Karimja will celebrate its fifth anniversary at Sri Sharadamba Bhajana Mandira, Vaggada Kadabettu, on November 1. On the occasion, the Yakshavasyam Award will be conferred on veteran Bhagavata Kuriya Ganapathi Shastri.

Speaking at a press conference held at Bantwal Press Club, Yakshavasyam Karimja founder Saisuma M Navada shared the details of the event.

The programme will be inaugurated at 10 am by former minister B Ramanath Rai. Manjappa Naik, Bommi, Sharada G Bangera, Lokayya Gowda, and Vasudev Prabhu will be felicitated with the Yakshavasyam honorary award in the presence of dignitaries.

A stage programme will be held at 2.30 pm under the chairmanship of MLA Rajesh Naik, with doctor and artist Dr Bhaskarananda Kumar as the chief guest.

A purvaranga and Shrikrishnaleela Yakshagana performance will be staged at 11 am, followed by a Sridevi Mahatme Yakshagana presentation by students at 4.30 pm.

Sayisuma Navada added that Yakshavasyam Karimja was founded in 2020 with the aim of providing a platform for students to showcase their talent. “This year, around 60 students are undergoing training, with classes being conducted in Karimja and Bantwal,” she said.

Present at the press meet were anniversary committee vice president Devdas Shetty Bantwal, Latha R Manibettu, and joint secretary Sumana Yalachittaya.
