Los Angeles, Oct 25: Hollywood actor Michael B Jordan, known for his acclaimed roles in Black Panther and the Creed franchise, is reportedly in talks to star in Universal Pictures’ upcoming film Miami Vice.

According to reports, Jordan is being considered for the role of Detective Ricardo Tubbs, one of the lead characters from the original 1980s television series. While his participation is yet to be officially confirmed, sources indicate the actor has shown strong interest in joining the project.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, is scheduled to begin shooting in 2026 and hit theatres on August 6, 2027. The screenplay is penned by Eric Warren Singer and Dan Gilroy, while Kosinski and Dylan Clark are producing the venture.

Inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the classic NBC series (1984–1989) created by Anthony Yerkovich, Miami Vice will explore the glamour and corruption of 1980s Miami. The film also draws creative influence from the series’ executive producer Michael Mann.

Jordan was last seen in Sinners (2025), directed by Ryan Coogler, co-starring Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, and Jack O’Connell.
