Mangaluru: MRPL celebrates ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ drive

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 24: In alignment with the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam-2.0’, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) undertook a large-scale plantation and sapling distribution drive across Mangaluru and surrounding regions.

The campaign, which encourages every citizen to plant a tree in honor of their mother, aims to strengthen India’s green cover and reinforce the spirit of environmental stewardship.

Under this initiative, MRPL planted and distributed a total of 5,034 saplings at multiple locations in collaboration with educational institutions, government offices, public organisations, and local communities.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, students, and community members, reaffirming MRPL’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by the Prime Minister on World Environment Day 2024, is being implemented across India under MoEFCC’s guidance.

As per MoEFCC’s latest notification, more than 80 cr saplings have been planted nationwide under the campaign — achieving the annual target ahead of schedule.

The second phase, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0,’ launched in 2025, focuses on involving schools, Eco Clubs, and local communities, integrating the initiative with Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) to nurture long-term environmental responsibility.
