New Bengaluru-Mumbai super-fast train to connect Central Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 20: Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi announced that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved a new super-fast train connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, fulfilling a long-standing demand from Karnataka.

“Heartfelt thanks to the central government on behalf of the people of Karnataka for approving the long-standing demand for a Bengaluru-Mumbai super-fast train,” Joshi posted on X.

The new train will run via Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi, providing better connectivity to regions in central Karnataka. Currently, the Udyan Express is the only direct super-fast train connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai via the Guntakal-Solapur route.

For the past three decades, passengers have been demanding an additional train through Karnataka’s central regions to enhance access to Mumbai, the commercial capital. The timetable for the new service is expected to be released in the coming days, Joshi added.

Heartfelt thanks to our proud Dharwad MP, Shri Pralhad Joshi Sir, for fulfilling a great dream after so many years. If an “Vande Bharat” or “Amrit Bharat” train is provided along this route covering around 1200 km, it would be even more convenient. I also extend my gratitude to our esteemed leaders Shri Tejasvi Surya, Shri Basavaraj Bommai, and Shri Jagadish Shettar for their efforts and cooperation in ensuring train connectivity through Tumkur, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi, Dharwad, and Belagavi.

It s good initiative by Ministry of Railway s to enable the people of UK to travel safely..Dependance on Buses will be reduced , Moreover the cost benefit compared to Bus fare vs Railway s would help the middle class family. Railways effort to run more such trains across Karnataka is highly appreciated 👍👍.In future if all the proposed Projects like Tumakuru- Davangere ,Dharwad -Belgaum and Karad - Mumbai completed on time it will lead to time saving to connect Bengaluru to Mumbai .

This is very much the need of the hour. I stayed for long in Mumbai. Where the Mumbai - New Delhi 1200 km was covered by Rajdhani in 16 hours, the Mumbai to Bengaluru 1000 km is covered by Udhyan in 24 hours. It's useful if this superfast express covers the distance in 15- 16; hours . Good point is that it traverses through Miraj- Hubli- Davangere, serving a vast hinterland and will benefit a majority of Karnataka areas. Thanks to GoI, concerned Ministers of Karnataka and the Indian Railways and congratulations to all Karnataka people travelers from Mumbai and Pune. There is nothing new about starting this direct train fro BENGALURU TO MUMBAI. Super fast train should have been put about 3 decades back only. Earlier railway minister failed to realize the importance of a super fast train between two important business cities namely one City is IT City and the other City is a business City. I wish the railway Ministry should have shifted udyan express to the other side namely Bengaluru to Mumbai via Miraj. The new super fast train should have been put between Bengaluru to Mumbai via Guntakal. Anyway in short i will say something is better than nothing.

Mumbai and Bengaluru need genuine fast trains with average speed of 90-100 to be really called SUPERFAST. Udyan Express has average speed around 65 which Is quite slow for modern times.
