Mangaluru, Oct 16: St Agnes School CBSE, Bendore, organised an informative session on ‘Awareness on Cyber Crime’ for students of grade VIII and IX on October 16, aiming to educate them about the growing threats in the digital world, the importance of responsible online behaviour and strategies to protect themselves from cyber offences. The initiative was significant in helping students understand the risks of cybercrime and develop safe and ethical online practices.

The session commenced with a prayer, setting a focused and attentive tone. This was followed by a welcome address by Anvi S K of VII C, who introduced the resource person, Roshan D’Souza, an assistant professor in the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru. D’Souza, a distinguished academician and expert in criminology and counselling, was accorded a floral welcome by Sr Lavi Shanti AC.

During the session, the resource person highlighted the importance of recognising potential threats and staying vigilant while navigating the digital world was strongly emphasized.

The discussion covered cybercrime against individuals, organisations, and society, including cyberbullying and cyber pornography, highlighting their risks, legal implications, and emotional impact. Students were guided on safe online practices and responsible digital behaviour. The session also included interactive quizzes, reinforcing key concepts and ensuring active participation.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nikisha of VIII B, expressing gratitude to D’Souza for his valuable insights. The session was both enlightening and empowering, leaving students with a deeper understanding of cybercrime and practical knowledge to navigate the digital world safely.
