New Delhi, Oct 14: A high-profile murder has shaken the Dandar village, Palamu district, Jharkhand, after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Munna Sinha was brutally killed on Tuesday morning. Officials confirmed that Sinha was attacked with sharp-edged weapons in what is suspected to be the tragic culmination of a long-standing land feud.
Details of the Incident
The attack occurred near Sinha's residence in the Panki block while the 42-year-old was ploughing his field with a tractor. According to police, a confrontation began when Arun Thakur, Doman Thakur, and several other family members arrived at the scene. The argument, rooted in a persistent land dispute, quickly escalated to fatal violence. The accused allegedly used sickles and other sharp weapons to inflict severe injuries on Sinha.

Locals rushed the critically injured leader to the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Medical reports indicated Sinha sustained deep, fatal wounds to his head and neck from the repeated strikes.
Police Investigation and Manhunt
Following the brutal assault, all the accused immediately fled the village. Police have launched an intensive manhunt, conducting raids across multiple locations to apprehend the suspects.
Rajesh Ranjan, Officer-in-Charge of Panki police station, stated that initial investigations strongly suggest the murder was a direct result of the land dispute. "All the accused are absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them," he confirmed. Sinha's body has been sent to MMCH for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Political Fallout and Demand for Justice
News of the murder has ignited significant outrage in the area, prompting a large gathering of JMM workers and leaders at the hospital demanding swift and decisive action.
Rajendra Kumar Sinha, alias Guddu Sinha, the JMM district president, condemned the killing, suggesting the motive might be deeper than just a land dispute. He alleged a political conspiracy behind the incident. "Munna Sinha was a dedicated party worker. His murder is not just a result of a land dispute but appears to be politically motivated. We demand the immediate arrest of all the culprits," he stated.
Villagers confirmed that Sinha, who was the only son of his parents and had served as the JMM block president of Panki for the past eight years, had been embroiled in the protracted dispute over a plot of agricultural land with the Thakur family.
