Trump calls Italian PM Meloni ‘Beautiful’ at Gaza summit

Daijiworld Media Network - Cairo

Cairo, Oct 14: US President Donald Trump on Monday praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as ‘a beautiful young woman’ during the Gaza peace summit in Egypt, drawing attention even as world leaders signed “The Trump Declaration for Enduring Peace and Prosperity.”

Speaking before around 30 leaders, Trump acknowledged the political risk of commenting on a woman’s appearance, saying, “If you use the word ‘beautiful’ in the United States about a woman, that is the end of your political career, but I will take my chances.”

He turned to Meloni, adding, “You don’t mind being called beautiful, right? Because you are… She is a beautiful young woman.”

The 79-year-old US President also praised Meloni’s leadership, calling her “an incredible” and “very successful politician” respected in Italy. Meloni smiled and laughed at the remarks but did not respond further.

The summit, attended by leaders including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad Al Thani, focused on historic agreements aimed at establishing peace and prosperity in Gaza.
