Muscat, Oct 10: The popular Konkani musical event ‘Pepere Pepe Dum’, conceptualized by the organization Ami Ani Amchim to promote and popularize brass band music along the coastal belt, has now reached international shores. For the first time, the show will be staged in a Gulf nation, with its second edition scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 10, at the Al Falaj Hotel in Ruwi, Muscat.

A 10-member Blue Brass Band from Mangaluru, along with 10 members of Ami Ani Amchim, have already arrived in Muscat. They were warmly welcomed at the Ruwi Airport by the office-bearers of the MCCP organization.

The event will feature a musical competition where four teams — Muscathchim Naktiram, Dabak Daba Kalakaar, Gavchim Motiyam, and Tenkantlim Talentam — will compete for the top prize. The winning team will receive 1,000 Omani Rials (approximately Rs 2.3 lac), while the remaining three teams will each receive 500 Omani Rials (around Rs 1.15 lac) as consolation prizes.

The event will be managed by Santosh D’Costa, Reena Castelino, and Arun D’Souza.

Prominent guests including NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Colaco, local clergy Fr Stephen Lewis, Kelarai church parish priest Fr Sylvester D’Costa, chairperson of Karnataka State Allied Healthcare Council U T Iftikhar Fareed, Daijiworld media founder Walter Nandalike, and Daijiworld director Alexis Castelino will grace the occasion. Organizers expect the show to be a houseful event.

The first edition of ‘Pepere Pepe Dum’ held in coastal Karnataka had witnessed participation from 20 teams across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, successfully reviving and spreading the legacy of brass band music across the region.
