Udupi: Narcotic substances seized in district destroyed

Udupi, Oct 9: Narcotic substances seized from various police stations across Udupi district were destroyed at M/s Ayush Envirotech Pvt Ltd, Padubidri, under the jurisdiction of Padubidri police station.

According to police sources, a total of 9 kg 937 g 209 mg of ganja worth around Rs 7,12,963, 345 g 596 mg of MDMA valued at Rs 8,08,464, and 61 g 430 mg of valueless white powder were destroyed. The total estimated value of the destroyed narcotics stands at Rs 15,21,427.

The destroyed contraband included substances seized in 10 different cases — three cases from Udupi town police station, two from CEN police station, and one case each from Malpe, Padubidri, Shirva, Karkala town, and Manipal police stations.

The operation was carried out in the presence of Udupi district superintendent of police and District Drug Disposal Committee chairman Hariram Shankar, assistant superintendent of police and committee member Dr Harsha Priyamvada, Udupi sub-division deputy superintendent of police and member Prabhu D T, and other officials.
