Special Mangaluru–Delhi train to run via Hassan, B'luru from Oct 5

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 4: In a major boost to long-distance connectivity from the coast, the Southern Railway has announced a special train service from Mangaluru Central to Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin via Hassan and Bengaluru — marking the first-ever train to North India from Mangaluru through this route. The service is scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 5.

Designated Train No. 06008, the Mangaluru Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin Special will depart Mangaluru Central at 2:25 PM on October 5, heading towards Delhi through an extended route covering Puttur, Subrahmanya Road, Hassan, and Bengaluru.

The train will reach Yeshwantpur Junction (Bengaluru) at 11:30 pm the same day and will resume its journey at 11:45 pm and run via Yelahanka, Hindupur, and Dharmavaram, before arriving at Kacheguda station in Hyderabad at 10:30 am on October 6.

From there, the train departs at 10:40 am, and passes through Kazipet, Balharshah, Nagpur, Jhansi, and other key junctions, finally reaching Hazrat Nizamuddin (Delhi) by 8 pm on October 7.

First train via Hassan to connect Coastal Karnataka to Delhi

This is a landmark service, being the first-ever train from Mangaluru to North India via Hassan, offering enhanced access to passengers travelling to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and northern states. The move has been widely welcomed by railway users and local communities, especially as it coincides with the return rush after Dasara holidays.
The Dakshina Kannada District Railway Users’ Committee has congratulated the authorities for the new route and urged that such connectivity be made regular.

Demand rises for Navayuga Express revival

Travellers have also renewed calls for the revival of the Navayuga Express, which earlier linked Mangaluru with Jammu’s Vaishno Devi shrine via Delhi. Though it was discontinued several years ago, demand for its return remains strong.

The announcement of this new special train has reignited hopes among passengers that it could serve as a precursor to reviving the Navayuga Express, or at the very least, evolve into a regular long-distance service connecting coastal Karnataka to northern India.
