Bhadrak, Oct 3: A mentally challenged woman was kidnapped by a truck driver on Thursday night near a building along National Highway-16 in Bhadrak, Odisha, in a brazen act captured on CCTV, officials said.
The footage shows the woman standing on the verandah of a roadside shop under bright streetlights when a truck slowed down without stopping. Moments later, the vehicle reversed, and the driver got out. Sensing danger, the woman picked up her belongings and stepped away, but the driver dashed toward her, overpowered her, pinned her against a pillar, and then abducted her as vehicles passed by.
Police have launched a massive search, reviewing highway surveillance footage and transport records to trace the driver and rescue the woman. Authorities said they are confident of locating the suspect soon.
