Bahraich, Oct 1: A horrifying incident has plunged Bahraich district into grief and shock after a man allegedly murdered two children before setting his own house on fire, resulting in the deaths of six people, including himself and his immediate family.
The devastating event unfolded on a Wednesday morning in Tepraha village, falling under the Mihinpurwa police station limits.
A Scene of Unthinkable Violence
According to initial police reports and accounts from horrified locals, the perpetrator, identified as Vijay, first killed two minor children. Following this unspeakable act, he is believed to have locked himself, his wife, and two of their own children inside their home before deliberately setting the structure ablaze.

The fire spread with terrifying speed, quickly engulfing the house and reducing it to ashes. Despite the rapid response of villagers and the fire brigade, the intensity of the blaze meant lives were already lost.
A police team, arriving shortly after being alerted, confirmed that three bodies have been recovered from the debris and sent for post-mortem, with the search continuing for the others.
Eyewitness Accounts and Motive Inquiry
Salim, a former village head and one of the first on the scene, recounted the desperate efforts to help: "The incident happened around 10 A.M. When we reached here we saw the house burning and tried to douse the flames before informing the police. When the door was broken open, the charred bodies of two children were pulled out."
Another villager, Ramchandra Yadav, mentioned that Vijay, a farm labourer, had seemed disturbed in recent days. The specific trigger for the violence, however, appears to have been a minor refusal. Another local account suggests Vijay called two boys, Suraj (14) and Sunny (13), to his house to sow garlic seeds. When the boys declined, citing the religious festival of Mahanavami, Vijay allegedly flew into a rage, killed them both, and then set the deadly fire.
Senior police officials have rushed to the site and are actively probing the motive behind this horrific act of domestic murder and arson. In addition to the six human casualties, authorities also confirmed the tragic deaths of four cattle in the inferno.
The entire village is now shrouded in sorrow, struggling to process the brutality and suddenness of the tragedy that has shattered their community.
