Udupi: Feeding stray dogs restricted to designated spots, says CMC commissioner Mahesh

Udupi, Oct 1: Commissioner Mahesh Hangargi stated that, as per Supreme Court directions, feeding stray dogs at random locations within the city municipal limits is prohibited. Designated spots will be identified for feeding, and signboards will be installed at these places.

He was speaking at a meeting held at the Satyamurthy hall of the city municipality on Monday.

He further said that the ABC (Animal Birth Control) programme will be implemented in coordination with local NGOs.

Environmental engineer Raviprakash informed that several complaints have been received regarding inconvenience caused by stray dogs to children and senior citizens.

Municipal member Girish Anchan suggested that rules be framed making registration compulsory for those keeping more than two dogs in and around the municipal limits.

The meeting was presided over by municipal president Prabhakar Poojary. Deputy director of animal husbandry department Reddappa, standing committee president Vijay Kodavoor, G T Hegde, and Manjunath Manipal were present.

    How that would solve the menace being created by stray dogs. ? These dogs some times chase the two wheeler riders in such way that the rider forced to lift Both the legs as high as the handle level.🐕🐕🤣
