Bantwal: Woman ends life by jumping into well due to illness and son’s disappearance

Bantwal, Sep 30: A woman, distressed by health issues and the long-standing worry over her missing son, ended her life by jumping into a well at Nelligutte in the Punjalkatte police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Umavathi (68), a resident of Nelligutte, Kaval Moodur village.

Around 15 years ago, Umavathi’s son had left home and has been missing ever since. Troubled by his disappearance, she had been suffering from high blood pressure and other health issues. Reportedly, the constant mental distress and depression led her to take the extreme step of ending her life by jumping into the well near her house.

Based on a complaint filed by the family members of the deceased, a case has been registered at Punjalkatte police station.
